FEMME by Litso Fashion: A Fashion show With a Storytelling Twist

The second edition of FEMME by Litso, held on the 26th of November, was a night of glory and glam. It was a runway fashion show with a storytelling angle added to it. Fans and lovers of fashion were served a night of wonder as the models gracefully grazed up and down the runway revealing what’s new in Litso’s collection.

The audience reception was very positive as they cheered on every piece that was revealed on the stage. The designer Annie Maliki also known as Litso, said the event was not just a regular fashion show as she meant to tell her story through fashion.

Models adorned the runway with Annie’s latest designs. There were two ranges of designs which suggested casual, fun and outgoing. Creative and bold designs were revealed from ladies, men’s and children’s wear altogether.

The children’s range was modelled by Madalitso, who happened to be youngest model on the stage that night. She carried herself professionally and gracefully as she strolled across the stage.

As part of the show, the short film written by Litso was screened at the event. The film, titled Broken, addressed abuse against men and women in the fashion industry and also marked the beginning or the 16 days of activism against gender based violence this year.

The screening of the film was only a premier event and will be available online on the streaming platforms. Annie highlighted that we have all been affected by gender based violence, directly or indirectly.

The screening of the film shared an unpopular perspective on gender based violence and emotional abuse within the fashion industry. Men are often overlooked when it comes to most forms of abuse, including gender based violence. In the film, Litso did well to raise awareness and reflect on the topic.

The show also showcased jewellery by Ubucwazi. Ubucwazi is a jewellery range with afrocentric accessories designs. They showcased their jewellery collection on the runway alongside Litso.

The first edition of the show took place in 2018 and this year was bigger and better. So much growth and creativity has been put into lace and one can only guess how much more to expert on the next edition.
