Known for her soulful music, Zimbabwean born songstress Berita released a new single titled “Siyathandana” from her 4th studio album Songs In The Key of Love. The track features the talented Amanda Black.
According to Berita, she met Amanda back in the day in East London where they were neighbors. She writes “This is more than just about a collaboration for me, it’s a celebratory moment for both of us, we’ve come so far yet this is just the beginning for both of us.”
Siyathandana is a love song that speaks about unconditional that stands the test of time. The song jumps straight into it with the opening lines going, “xa ebizwa amagama ethu ezulwini/ zoba secaleni kwakho/ xakufika imini yokugqibela/ zoba secaleni kwakho,” (when our names are called up in heaven, I’ll be by your side, on the last day, I’ll be by your side). Amanda comes with her lines, “ungowokuqala endicinga ngaye/ ngolwesibini ndadibana naye/ ngoku mathathu amazwi endinawo/ ngolwesine, ngolwesihlanu ndingowakho” (you’re the first one I think of, the second I met him, now I only have three words for you, Thursday, Friday I am yours.)
The track describes an effortless love, with no complications. The beauty of this track is in the words and the soulful voices of Berita and Amanda. What makes this track exceptionally good, is the production. It’s a soft, smooth and simple sound that perfectly suits the genre and voices. In Berita’s words, this is not a collaboration but a celebration of love.
