With the Black Lives Matter hashtag still trending and making an impact in the American community, Ciara, the queen of dance has graced the music scene and movement with a new track titled “Rooted.” Featuring Ester Dean the track celebrates being black and further emphasizing that being Black is excellence and that black lives matter.
This is Ciara’s first new single in several months was released weeks after she recently gave birth. On “Rooted,” they show how proud they are of being black. The “Thinkin’ Bout You” hit maker says “I am blessed to be able to carry seeds of new life into this world.” Ciara says her family value their culture dearly and she wanted this to reflect through this song.
The track plays out over a bassy and upbeat beat with the two R&B’s vocalists’ powerful lyrics, “Young girl stay rooted/ I done plant my seeds now I’m rooted/ Brown skin poppin’, I’m rooted.”
She also pays homage to Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King as she sings “All my songs come with melanin/ Got the heart, got the soul like Harriett/ A queen since she born, that was evident.”
Ciara definitely nailed it, sealed it and made it known that she is rooting for black people, through and through and she’s proud!
