New Music: Oxzy – Musacheme

Published on

Gender based violence is a reality of our society. Cases of violence against women and men have had a spike over the past year and we need more awareness around this issue. It’s always encouraging when artists take an initiative to raise awareness.

Oxzy has brought out a new track titled ‘Musacheme’ that’s dedicated to GBV affecting women. The message in this song is powerful. He sings about the lessons we are teaching our kids, the pain caused by GBV. He also highlights the common misconceptions that society has that men own women because they paid lobola. He also tries to console women being abused. Survivors of GBV are beautiful and worthy of love just like everyone else.

Oxzy sings, ‘Nyarara musacheme,/ Ungakhali, bvisa misodzi, Varume musadaro,/ Just because you paid lobola doesn’t mean you own her,/ She’s not a slave or property so you cannot mistreat her,/ She’s the mother of your kids yet you harm and abuse her,/ She’s the queen of the house that’s there when you need her,/ So much energy when it comes to her family,/ Too much love in her heart she gives you everything.’ (Be still don’t cry wipe your tears away).

Gender based violence will never be justified. It says a lot more of the abuser than the abused. Let’s stop the violence against our mothers and sisters. I appreciate the effort that Oxzy has put into this track and raising awareness to GBV.
