Dr Mtk raps about trials and tribulations everyone faces in life, losing hope and finding your way through it all. Backed up by Msiz’kay’s voice, this track has a vibe that can only be found koNtuthu.
Another banger rolls out of the City of Kings and Queens. Dr Mtk and Msiz’kay have released a new track titled ‘Golide’.
Released on the 2nd of October, Golide is by Bulawayo’s very own Dr Mtk featuring Msiz’kay. I was pleasantly surprised by this track. Dr Mtk raps about trials and tribulations everyone faces in life, losing hope and finding your way through it all. Backed up by Msiz’kay’s voice, this track has a vibe that can only be found koNtuthu.
The production on this project is impeccable. The instrumental has an authentic Bulawayo sound which blends well with the lyrics. It’s almost impossible to listen to this song without moving to it (trust me I tried). The bass and drum really gives of a feel of umuntu osebenzayo ogebha ngefosholo (a person digging using a shovel).
The message behind the song is that we all lose our way but with perseverance we can find our way back, our own little gold mine. To reach the gold you have to put in the work to get the gold.
Dr Mtk raps, “I don’t bow down to anything, only when I’m praying to God/ I dont succumb to pain it’s just a temporary phase/ I had to bury my ego for me to be where I am/…/Indlela ibuzwa kwabaphambili manje wena tshomi ulindeni?(you ask for advise from those older than us so what are you waiting for?
On the chorus Msiz’kay sings, “Ngike ngalahleka, ngike ngayidinga indlela ngayiswela/ Kodwa manje sengiwutholile umgodi wegolide” (I was lost, I looked for a path but couldn’t find it, but now I’ve found a gold mine. This track is for anyone who is going through or has gone through something. We all have to put in work to reach the goal we want and it’s not life if it has no ups and downs.
