It’s always a vibe when Zimbabweans meet up and make music. This week we got treated to a Gemma, Nutty O and Asaph collab plus a video! The trio released a new track and video produced by Charlie Kay and directed by Marc Neilson and Gemma Griffiths.

The track is titled +263 with a mix of English Ndebele and Shona vocals from the talented trio. +263 is a tale of a boy and a girl in love talking about phone conversations. Like who wouldn’t want a late night call from their bae?

The vocals on this production are immaculate. Gemma’s beautiful singing voice coupled with Nutty O and Asaph’s rap skills make a formidable combination. I’m my opinion it’s worth a small small 10 plays a day. The vibrancy in their voices brings the song to life, and Charlie Kay’s production perfectly matched the vibe of the song. A playful and vibrant feel that comes with the excitement of love.

Gemma sings, “Moyo wangu wakamerera pauri pauri,/ Kutorova rova just like boom boom loving on ya,/ Everytime paunofona cellular my heart gonna beat like crazy,/….so call me after, I’ll wait up,/ and we’ll talk till sunrise,/ Fona pa263 I’ll wait for you”
Nutty O raps, “Baby honestly,/ ndasuwa you and me,/ uripadhuze whispering like we got privacy,/ I love the telephone loving I feel your energy,/ Imma call you anytime your voice is my remedy”
Asaph raps, “Bad ting when you hear the phone ring,/ Imma holla woza kimi my darli,/…,/Ntombazane uvele ukhale ngami,/ Baby you my number 1 kinda like my sing alongs/ Ngikuthanda njengamasing along,/ And for that body baby I sabaweli.”
I love the mix of languages and the use of love language. You definitely see the contrast between Male and female and the vibe that surrounds love.

The visuals for the track were directed by Marc Neilson and Gemma and featured a few friends of the artists. The whole of the production is contagious. You can’t help but feel the urge to get up and dance along with the dancers. The smiles, the good vibes, it really embodies the mood of the track. The shoots are great. We get to see snippets of a really cool vintage car, great outfits and people just having a good ol time. Props to the directors for a job well done for cinematography.

As a proud +263 user, I’ll be listening to this track on repeat. It would be quite selfish of me to not share the link. Check out +263 below.
