About Lemoniq
Lemoniq is an 18 year old passionate girl from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. Her passion for music started when she was 10 and was cultivated by her mother who encouraged her to take it as a career. Lemoniq chose Afro pop as her genre because she feels that her voices finds its comfort and gets to express what comes from her art. The name Lemoniq is derived from both her names Gugulethu Monica she played around with the letters and came up with Lemonic but instead of the C at the end she used the letter Q.

Zimbabwe’s premier performing arts ensemble, Umkhathi Theatre Works has collaborated with upcoming artist Lemoniq on a new song titled “Ngowam’lo”. The song will be unveiled on Friday 8 January 2021 together with its video which was done by Veins Media. The song will be available on her YouTube channel and other digital stores.

Lemoniq’s first single is a collaboration done with multi-award winning arts ensemble Umkhathi Theatre Works who added their vocal prowess to the song and also featured on the video which was shot at St Peters in the outskirts of Bulawayo. Umkhathi Theatre through its administrator Joseph Ngubo said this is part of a number of projects they work on with upcoming artists in Bulawayo, as a way of tapping into young audiences in the city and beyond.
“As Umkhathi Theatre we work with children and young people in training them and also collaborate with them on various forms of art which include music and dance, this project is also one of those and we shall unleash more projects of this nature.”
Umkhathi Theatre Works is a multi- disciplinary performing arts ensemble based in the high-density suburb of Njube in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.
