Meet Mr Kamera, the Man Behind the Music Score for Netflix’s Blood and Water
Having worked big names in the industry like Patoranking, Davido, Yemi Alade, Ice Prince etc. How has that experience shaped your career and what was it like working with them?
Mr Kamera is a music producer based in South Africa, just trying to make his way up the ladder.
What first got you into music? Who inspired you to make music?
Pharrell Pharrell Pharrell! How many times did I call his name? Lol I got into music at such a young age and Pharrell became my greatest influence and idol.
What are your top 3 favourite 90’s jam both locally & internationally?
Hmmmm I listened to a lot of random songs. Ishmael Lo – Tajabone, Sixpence None The Richer – Kiss Me, Shania Twain – You’re Still One
Between being an artist and a music producer, what do you enjoy the most?
Definitely music production. I am more comfortable producing.
What is your creative process like?
I don’t have a specific process. Anything can inspire me at anytime. I could literally start making a beat in the kitchen on my laptop.
How would you describe the music you typically make?
I go through phases you know. Right now I’m really into these reggae, chilled vibes. Not so long ago I want into pop like old-school N’sync type pop. I’m just weird like that.
What does it take to break out and become an international act?
It might sound like a corny answer but in all honesty its God’s grace. All I’ve done is dream, pray and work. God opened all the doors for me.
From Hatfield to Bulawayo to all over the world, how do these different places/cultures impact your work?
Its quite interesting because I really got to understand different sounds and not only from hearing them but from also being in the environment and living that through the culture. It’s definitely been a positive.
