A foundation is a facial beauty must. The wrong foundation on the wrong skin type and/ complexion may actually be quite catastrophic. This week we caught up with makeup artist and model Briliant also known as Brilliance Beauty, and she gave us the tips on how to apply foundation perfectly.
Briliant is a young black and beautiful woman, who is a beauty content creator, a makeup artist and a matriarch, she believes in the emancipation of women and girls and does her best to contribute towards a world of young successful and empowered women.
She believes that foundation is the base of every makeup look and it is important to blend it well so as to create a canvas for a flawless finish.
Here she gives us simple steps to follow:
Moisturise.
This is to protect your skin, so it may not be damaged, as makeup products can be damning on bare skin. So the trick is applying a moisturizer before one applies anything.
Set face with finishing powder.
Right after, she sets her face with finishing powder, so that when she does apply her foundation, it may settle well.
Apply foundation.
Then comes the main thing, the foundation! She has done so with a brush, so feel free to do so as well. Well some people utilise sponges but, Briliant’s method is actually using a brush, and guess what? It actually works.
Buff it in with a powder brush
This is so that it blends in and is set.
Conceal and highlight (natural finish)
She does so under the eyelids systematically so as to hide any dark spots or wrinkles. She has done so on her forehead as well
Set with setting powder
This is done right after so as to blend in the concealer
Light powder contour.
She has strategically used her brush to create that cheekbone-effect
Blush
Then on her cheeks still and jawline, she gently blushes.
After she’s done, she swiftly uses her plain brush to buff up her face
This is a simple localised way of applying your foundation. Afterwards, feel free to glue on your eyelashes and eye shadows. Ultimately a foundation is actually the “foundation” of makeup. A well-made up foundation means a great coordination of the entire facial make up.
