We have quite a few commemoration days this month: Worker’s Day & World Press Freedom day were on the 1st & 3rd of this month, respectively. We have the International Day of Families on the 15th & of course our favorite holiday, Africa day on the 25th. World Menstruation day is on the 28th & World No Tobacco Day is on the 31st. We will be with you throughout all of these milestones, ready to learn more & celebrate.
My apologies for my hiatus, this sabbatical served as a mental health retreat. Let’s normalize taking time out to recharge as & when we need it. Burnout is real! Speaking of Mental Health, May is Mental Health Awareness Month. To celebrate this we’re partnering with Caterpillar’s Cocoon Trust to host a writing competition. We are championing positive coping mechanisms especially in the face of increased burnout, the COVID pandemic & subsequent increase in unemployment rates; it’s tough out here. Journaling is one way to help process difficult emotions & experiences, so in honor of that, the competition theme will be, “Dear Diary.” We will ask participants to give an account of an emotionally awkward experience & how they overcame it, in the form of a dear diary entry. More details about the competition will follow next week.
We’ll publish articles from Monday to Friday and let you catch up on the week’s events on the weekends in the comfort of your own home. We keep moving a day at a time.
