It always hits different when you realise you want to spend the rest of your life with your person. Much to our luck, Awa_Khiwe has managed to turn that feeling into a song titled ‘Babakazi’.
The rap queen has dropped another banger with Ghanaian Stallion. The track Babakazi is a ode to a love interest expressing your feelings. With emphasis on introducing your guy to your aunt. In our Zimbabwean culture that’s a huge step taken in any relationship. It’s making your relationship official official (not to be confused with social media official).
Awa_Khiwe always delivers the message, and she does it gracefully in this track. I love how authentic her sound is. The Ndebele lyrics are refreshing. The magic is in how she articulates herself so well. Ghanaian Stallion also showed up and showed out on the beat. It perfectly compliments Awa’s flow. It has a captivating African touch.
Awakhiwe sings, “Ngizotshel’ ubabakazi ngawe,/ Ngifuna ekhaya babekwazi ngawe,/ Bazohlala bekhuluma banamanga,/ Ngizasoqhubeka ngukuthanda vele angimanga sthandwa sami,/ Ngizoy’ ekhaya ngitshel’ ubabakazi ngawe,/ Ngithi ngithole indoda emadodeni,/ Bafisa sihlukane, laba abathakathi abathi kuzophela abayangeni,/Bazokuthanda ekhaya wena babe.” (I’ll tell my aunt about you, I want my family to know about you, haters will always speak lies, I’ll continue loving you I won’t stop, I’ll tell my family that I’ve found a real man, haters say it will end, they have no shame, My family will love you.)
This a plus one on any lobola playlist. I love everything about this song and so will you. Awa_Khiwe did everything that needed to be done here and it’s an amazing song. Check out Babakazi here.
